My husband says that every year, the first signs of mid spring are brought on by me starting my search for this years new pair of black flip flops!  Ever since I was a child I got a new pair of the black flip flops in the mid spring and I still do it today.  Unfortunately now days things are not as easy as they used to be.  When I could run into just about any store and come out with a simple pair of black flip flops.  What I have found is that every year it gets harder.  Last year I bought four pair before I got it right and now I am not looking forward to next year.

For what ever reason over the last couple of years the manufactures have made some changes to the black flip flops that they make.  Rather than being the easy to buy and nice and comfortable black flip flops that I have been buying for years they have turned into something that is hard to buy.  To start with the piece that goes between the toes.  A few years ago I noticed that most of the black flip flops that I could find had a weird, clear, plastic tube that is rather hard that covers this piece.  It has no purpose and it can make your toes hurt if you try to walk in those black flip flops, so I cut that out.  So that year went by ok, with me just having to remove the plastic piece.  The next year added more issues.

You see the following year the plastic piece year I had even more issues.  The black flip flops that came out that year had the plastic piece but they also were cut a little funny.  The pieces of fabric that come from the piece that goes between your toes was attached in a strange spot around the foot and I hear everyone complaining about it.  It took me two different pairs of black flip flops that year to find the ones that fit right.  The next year was ever worse.  That plastic piece was still there but now that piece of fabric that goes from the toe to around the foot, on nearly every pair of black flip flops that I found, that piece of fabric was so short that it actually made the black flip flops curl up a bit!

Granted, things have gotten tough when it comes to buying a new pair of black flip flops but I will still get a pair every year, its just that now I have to take my time and try them on and what not and that is something that I had never had to do before.
